April 24: Artificial Intelligence Workshop presented by Tech Council 5:30-6:15 pm (in-person, Titan Hall)

April 3: Promoted an external virtual event, Helping Your Child Increase Their Financial Literacy. Hosted by Leaside High School and presented by TD Bank. Virtual event, 7-8:30 pm.

March 2025

March 27: Mindfulness workshops. Held 6 in-person mindfulness training sessions for parents and caregivers to learn simple techniques to reduce stress and improve focus.  (in-person, Titan Hall)

March 20: French Fest 2025. In-person event celebrating bilingual excellence at YM and beyond. Detailed agenda and presentations from our guest speakers are here.

January 2024

January 24: Informed YMCI parents/caregivers of the Ward 11 School Trustee By-Election on Monday, March 3, 2025. Provided information on the role of the school trustee.

January 16: Promoted an external virtual workshop: Understanding and Managing Teen Anxiety. Hosted by Leaside High School.

December 4: Pizza lunch.

December 3: Council meeting 6:30 - 8:00 pm  (in-person, Titan Hall)

December 1: Wrote and submitted the School Council Innovation Grant.

November 2024

November 25: Student Success at York Mills CI. Organized and ran a virtual workshop from 7-8 pm, led by York Mills CI Student Success teacher, Ms. Risa Gluskin.

November 19: Kick-off of the School Council's Annual Fundraising Campaign.

November 18: First Pizza Lunch.

November 16: Promoted a TDSB Parents as Partners Conference. 10 am - 1:15 pm - Virtual/Zoom

November 14: Promoted an external virtual talk, 7-8 pm. Feeling Down? Depression in Children & Youth. Hosted by Leaside HS and led by Registered Social Worker Gena Little.  

November 11: Held a virtual School Council Budget info session from 7:30-8:30 pm regarding the 2024/25 budget for Council members and the school community.

November 7: Promoted an external virtual talk: Careers in Digital Health by UHN Stem Pathways.

Other: Invited feedback from parents and caregivers on the School Council budget.

October 2024

October 29: Council meeting 6:30 - 8:00 pm  (in-person, Titan Hall)

October 29: English at York Mills CI. In-person presentation 6:30-7 pm by Ms. Esther Howell, ACL of English at York Mills CI. Titan Hall.

October 29: Robotics Showcase 5:15 - 6:00 pm (in-person, Titan Hall). Led by the YMCI Robotics Club and staff advisor Ms. Marie Karimizadeh, Computer Science and Computer Engineering teacher.

October 28:  Attended Ward 8 & 11 Joint Ward Forum. In-person, 6:30-8 pm, Davisville Public School. Received Ward 11 updates, connected with other Ward 11 school councils, met with the new TDSB FOS13 Superintendent, Kurt McIntosh.

October 17: School Council Table at Parent-Teacher Interview Day. Council members met parents and caregivers, staff, and students at a School Council info and beverage table. Engaged parents, some of whom expressed interest in joining council activities and signing up to volunteer. 

Other: 

• Established School Council voting member WhatsApp group.

• Created a School Council email list.

• Invited parents and caregivers to submit feedback on the School Statement of Needs from October 4-25.

• Invited parents and caregivers to submit ideas and suggestions on the School Council Innovation Grant.

• Designed and administered a Parent/Caregiver Priorities Survey sent to the YM School Community. View the Survey Report.

September 2024

September 26: Election of the council members and the council officers 6:30 - 8:00 pm (in-person, Titan Hall)

September 19: Organized and led a virtual welcome event for parents and caregivers of newcomer, transfer, and other new students to YMCI (Virtual, 8-9 PM).

Other: Provided all parents and caregivers with information about the upcoming School Council election on September 26. Invited nominations and self-nominations.
